“Why Podcast.” It really good. It’s a podcast hosted by Barnaby Wasson.

Description:  The benefits of Podcasting are limitless! Learn how it can become an integral form of communication between all stakeholders in the education process, including students, administration, your professional development team, and parents! This podcast features educators at all levels showcasing how they are using podcasting in their educational niche.  Check it out at http://edcommunity.apple.com/ali/item.php?itemID=9934

Have you seen the Panwapa website for kids 4-7? It is fantastic and would be a wonderful place for Fredreka to explore. I can’t wait to share it with my grandkids! Lots of audio support for the kids and it’s very web 2.0 and highly interactive. Very little if any reading required, and all of the instructions are given through audio explanations.  http://www.panwapa.org/

Look at this amazing tool: Miguel Guhlin shared this on his blog and it is a free tool (PC only) that converts all kinds of documents including PhotoStory into mp4 and other formats. I was wondering if something like this might work for posting those PhotoStory albums on your district website so Mac users can view them too? It’s called FormatFactory.  http://formatoz.com

This is Miguel’s blog post that does a nice job of explaining how he is using it for digital storytelling projects. http://www.edsupport.cc/mguhlin/archives/2008/09/entry_7835.htm

This is another article he links to that explains what you can do with the software. It will even reduce file size. :-) http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/formatfactory-a-multifunctional-media-converter/

Great article on podcasting & iTunes

Just saw a tweet from Angela Meiers about this article. Does a great job of promoting podcasting by students. I like the emphasis on student projects that address content issues and not just teacher lectures. :-) http://www.nj.com/newark/index.ssf/2008/09/with_itunes_schools_join_digit.html

“This generation is very much a playback generation. They need to hear things over and over while they’re multi-tasking,” she said. “The way we look at teaching and learning is changing dramatically because of technology.”

Have you used the podcasting resources on Miguel Guhlin’s wiki? He’s got a link to your podcasting guidelines from Coming of Age. :-) I’m sure you’re familiar with most of the resources, but it’s a nice compilation. I like the resources he has shared for royalty-free audio clips and podcast hosting sites. http://www.edsupport.cc/mguhlin/share/index.php?n=Work.Podcasting

Other items worth mentioning (15:10)

My Web 2.0 class is back from the editor and I need to get busy!

Multimedia and Moodle is completed.  Now just waiting on the day to teach it.

And finally, my name Shawn Wheeler and I welcome your comments and feedback. Drop me a note… my email address is - swheeler@shawnwheeler.name

Remember, it is important enough to say to the class, it is important enough for the class to hear it again… Say it again with Podcasting! or What would you say… If the world could hear?
